North Lakes Family Photography | Capturing The Candid Moments

I photographed this gorgeous family recently and they bought all the laughter and smiles to the table!

One of my favourite things to capture during family photos is emotion and candidness. I want to take the everyday moments with your children and create art pieces from them. The laughing faces, the kisses, the cuddles, the tickle fights and even the pouty faces.

I want to capture the genuine giggles of your children that result from your tickles and the glowing smiles that happen when you cuddle them. I want to create photographic memories of your children with YOU and capture the photos that you can’t.

I want you to have photos of your children that you can display proudly in your home, that you can admire daily. Even on the hard and long days with them, I want you to see these photos with their smiles and be reminded that it’s all worth it. And when those tough days are over and your children are grown up, I want you to be able to look back on these photos and realise that maybe those hard days weren’t so long after all.

So while your hustle and bustling through life, remember the importance of investing in your families photographic memories and have these fleeting moments of your children captured while they’re still young. Yearly family photos are the perfect way to document them as they grow.

North Brisbane Couples Photographer | Amy & Jim

If you can’t tell, I absolutely love capturing couples and engagement photos and Amy & Jim did not disappoint!

The love and connection that these two share is incredible and i’m so happy that I was able to document their story.

Enjoy viewing some of their beautiful images and if it’s time to book a couples or engagement session for you and the one you love, send me a message.

North Brisbane Family Photographer | The Bradley's

A few weeks ago I got to spend the afternoon with this beautiful family!

We had lots of fun with so many tickles, cuddles and laughs! I absolutely love capturing the candid moments and the genuine smiles.

Photographs are like a time capsule, they take us back to moments that we may otherwise forget. They remind us how little our babies once were because they will never be as little as they are today.

Don’t just book family photos for yourself.
Book them for your children.
For you’re grandchildren.
And for you’re great grandchildren.
Capture memories that can be handed down through each generation.

If it’s time to book in your family photos, send me a message for more information!

Tangalooma Island Resort Wedding Photographer | Kirsten & Nathan

This time, two weeks ago, we were all settled in at Tangalooma Island Resort and ready to photograph Kirsten and Nathans beautiful island wedding the following day!

When we arrived at Tangalooma on Friday morning, we were greeted with cloudy skies and a fair bit of rain (actually, we were greeted with pouring rain when we arrived back in Brisbane on Sunday morning too!) but it didn't last long thankfully and the rest of the day was beautiful and sunny! We were even lucky enough to feed some wild dolphins during our stay as well!

On the morning of Kirsten and Nathans wedding, we woke to a stunning double rainbow and it was such a beautiful way to start the day! The sun was shining and the weather was warm, I don't think we could have asked for anything more!

Kirsten and Nathan are such a beautiful couple and while listening to them reading their vowels, the love they have for each other was evident.

Thank you again to both of you for allowing us to capture these memories of your special day.

Enjoy looking at some of the gorgeous images from their day below!

North Brisbane Engagement Photographer | Louisa & Mitch

A few weeks ago I got to photograph Louisa and Mitch's engagement photo session and to say i'm in love is an understatement!

I love being able to photograph the fun, smiley moments of my couples but I equally love capturing the raw, emotive and sometimes steamy moments as well. There's nothing quite like capturing intimate connections!

To book in your engagement or couples session (you don't need to be engaged!) message me  for packages and information!

In the meantime, enjoy looking through some of Louisa and Mitch's gorgeous engagement photos!

North Brisbane Newborn Photographer | Baby Harry

Newborn photographs are invaluable. They're photographic memories that take you back to a moment otherwise gone. A return ticket to remember just how small they were and how they used to fit into your arms just right.

A few weeks ago I had Mr Harry in the studio for his newborn session and oh my goodness he had me swooning, I mean, look at all that hair.

Enjoy looking through a few of his images!

WHAT TO WEAR | north brisbane photographer

SESSION DETAILS & BASIC STYLING TIPS

Firstly, I am so excited for your photo session and I’m so honoured to help you create memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime!

Good styling is important and choosing what to wear for your family or couples/engagement session can be an overwhelming thought which is why i've created this guide to help you get the most out of your photos! You organise your outfits and i'll take care of the rest! Your only other job is to be yourself, laugh a lot and let me create photos you’ll love forever. I can’t wait to get you in front of my camera!

The location of your photo session is up to you, some ideas include a beautiful grassy field, a quiet country style dirt road or the beach. I love shooting in wide-open natural spaces because the light is divine, especially during the golden hour, which usually falls around 4pm or 5pm, depending on the season.

Before choosing your outfits, you first need to decide what kind of style you're wanting to achieve for your photos and also what the weather will be like. Will it be warmer or cooler? Do you want something classy and glamorous, nice and natural or a nice, soft boho look (I'm a lover of the boho look)?

It's also important to choose coordinating colours for your outfits. Consider your location choice, your home decor and where you may display your images. Do you want soft, neutral colours or something a little bolder?

As you're coordinating your outfits, keep in mind that you will all look the most cohesive when the colour palettes coordinate but don't necessarily match. You should aim to wear a different dominant colour, while staying within a similar colour palette. I usually recommend choosing your outfit first and then putting together the other outfits based on that.

To help you choose coordinating colours, consult the colour wheel below. Colours opposite each other on the wheel are complimentary. If you love the pairing of orange and blue, for example, I suggest some pops of orange amongst varying tones of blues in cotton and denim.

STYLING TIPS FOR HER

Long, flowy dresses and skirts look amazing on camera because they bring extra movement to the photos. Cute, shorter-length, flowy dresses photograph beautifully as well. Dresses and skirts tend to look most stunning on camera because they really flatter the female body. If you're aiming for more of a natural, boho look for your photos, I recommend avoiding pants and shorts for your session, and saying yes to a dress or two!

In my experience, every woman, regardless of her shape has an area of her body that she’s self conscious about, so recognising what area that is in advance is key. Choosing flattering silhouettes and colours that compliment your natural features is the best way to ensure you’ll love the way you look in your photos.

Three-quarter length sleeves create an awesome slimming effect on all arms, so be on the lookout for an option with a longer length sleeve. You could also bring a cute jacket, blazer or cardigan along, too. Skinny straps or strapless dresses have the opposite effect on arms on camera, so I recommend avoiding those whenever possible if your goal is a set of slimmer-looking arms.

When it comes to shoes, what you choose will depend on your chosen location. If you've decided on a beach location then shoes aren't necessary but if you've chosen a grassy field (or similar) then pretty, flat sandals always look great! If you've decided on a location with flat ground, like a road or city location then heels are always a winner, they elongate women’s legs, making them look fabulous!

If you're not confident at doing your own hair and makeup, I always recommend having it done professionally. This will alleviate the stress of having to do it yourself and will always leave you feeling your best. When it comes to your hair, I always find that soft curls/waves are a winner!

As women, we usually always love a bit of colour in our skin however I highly recommend that you avoid a spray tan before your session as it tends to photograph orange even when it's applied subtly and by a professional. Your images will be retouched with warmer tones which will add some depth and colour to your skin, so your actual skin tone will photograph the most beautifully and naturally.

STYLING TIPS FOR HIM

If you're after a natural or boho theme for your photos, long denim or black jeans, or chinos look great for the guys teamed with either a button up, pullover or nice polo shirt. However, if you're after something a bit more dressy, you can't go wrong with black or grey dress pants or a casual suit.

If your mans up for a little extra styling then have a look at adding a complimentary blazer, jacket or sweater; depending on the weather.

The shoes he wears will depend on the outfit and location but for the most part, you can't go wrong with a nice pair of all black Vans or some dressy-casual shoes that compliment his outfit (just avoid wearing a pair of thongs or old, daggy runners).
If you've chosen a beach location then shoes won't be necessary.

STYLING TIPS FOR KIDS

Choosing outfits for the kids doesn't have to be over whelming, in fact the basics of their outfits can mimic their parents.

For girls, I recommend a pretty, flowy dress in a coordinating colour. If your session will be in the cooler months you can can add in layering pieces like cute footed tights, a denim jacket or a cardigan.

For boys, you can't go wrong with jeans, chinos or shorts (depending on the weather) and a cute button up shirt. And same as the girls, if your session will be in the cooler months you can definitely add in a jacket or cardigan.

For the shoes, ballet flats or a nice pair of sandals look super cute for girls and a nice pair of coordinating, closed in shoes for the boys.

For young babies/newborns, you want to keep it simple! Putting bub in an outfit that is a litter big for them can be a bit over whelming and almost "swallow them up." A nice neutral onesie and leggings or a thin cotton dress (with footed tights and a skivvy for winter) looks super cute!

DO'S & DONT'S

- Do choose a complimentary colour palette
- Do dress comfortably
- Do keep nails clean (and nail polish neutral)
- Do bring hair ties and clips for kids and long hair (but avoid putting hair ties on your wrist)

- Don't wear harsh patterns
- Don't wear logos
- Don't be matchy matchy
- Don't put young babies and newborns in overwhelming outfits

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO AT YOUR PHOTO SESSION

During your photo session, I will absolutely help guide you into poses. My only expectation for you is that you come open to ideas, and are ready to have fun, laugh, and snuggle in front of my camera! While I will give you direction throughout the session, I like to let you fall into a version of the pose that is comfortable for you! There will also be plenty of times when I will let you do your thing, and capture your natural interactions. I may ask you to move, walk, and fake laugh- which coincidently always results in real laughter!

Bribie Island Engagement Photographer | Kirsten & Nathan

Branell Homestead, Laidley Photographer | Jessica & Aidan

"You awakened in me a desire for adventure and now I yearn for it. Now that my darling is what love should be."

Jessica and Aidan tied the knot recently at Branell Homestead, Laidley and we are so honoured that they allowed us to join them and capture their beautiful day! They were such a fun pair to photograph and it was so beautiful to see the love that they and their three sweet children all had for each other!

Branell Homestead is such a stunning venue and even though the grass was a little less green than the last time we were there, it still provided us with some gorgeous rustic tones for their photographs.

Enjoy some beautiful images from their special day below!

The Golden Ox Wedding Photographer | Christine & David

After many months of planning, I recently had the honour of photographing my beautiful mum and step dads wedding at The Golden Ox, Margate and the day was absolutely beautiful!

While every wedding that I get to photograph and be apart of is very special to me, there was something extra special about being able to photograph your own families special day, especially one filled with your own children, nephews and nieces - kids at weddings just add a special kind of beauty to the day!

With my daughter and niece as flower girls, my son and nephew as unofficial page boys (because who can trust two crazy 3 year olds to walk down the aisle together and not scream with laughter!) and my other nephew walking my beautiful mum down the aisle, the day was just filled with so much love and sweetness!

As I was photographing the day and running around like a mad woman to make sure everything ran perfectly and on schedule (thank you hugely to my second shooter Belinda for capturing a photo of me fixing up my mums dress mid ceremony), it wasn't until I was home and retouching these images that I really got to see the looks of pure happiness and love on the faces of my mum and step dad. With every new image, bought an even bigger smile!

A huge congratulations to my mum, Christine and step dad, David! Thank you for letting me capture your day and I wish you both so much love and happiness!
